This place is my favored. I eat in plenty of restaurants but to this place I constantly return again and again. The crew is very receptive and the food they place on your table is so good. I am always happy to have a decent dinner in this restaurant. I recommend this place with pleasure.

The food was great and the staff was really friendly. It was interesting to try the chef's special sashimi plate. The tofu was refreshing. The pork cheek was packed with flavor. My roommate loved the soba noodles. My favorite was the taiyaki. Next time, I will have to try their whiskey. I wouldn't bring a picky eater here. Just beware if they are busy because service can get really slow. I'd come back.here for sure.

This restaurant is my first choice place. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. when I want to go to a fair meal, this place comes straightaway to my mind. Great and food and a large list of dishes.well mannered staff members, and agreeable atmosphere. In addition to that, the pay is decent. I recommend this place with great pleasure.

This restaurant is my preferred one. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this one I go the most. The crew is very warm and the cooking they serve is so appetizing. I never decline to have a nice dinner in this place. Highly recommended.

Yesterday was our first time we came to that good restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last. We passed a splendid evening with the courteous service, with the high quality dishes and fine drinks and with the decent cost. We will absolutely come back in a short time.

Great food and friendly service. I've been coming to this place at least couple times a year for about 20 years. It was introduced to me by my colleagues from the Tokyo office. They told me they will visit a place like this after work in Tokyo. Eat, drink, shoot the breeze before the last train home. They will order the little tapas-like dishes all night and finish with a bowl of noodle or ochazuke (green tea over rice). The Yakitori (chicken skewer) and Kimchee and pork are consistently good. I discover something new every year and some of my favorites get rotated out of of the menu like the shrimp ceviche. My favorite this year is the crab meat zosui (rice soup with egg and mochi).

Great food. Great service. Went there for dinner and ordered mostly grilled skewers. I would say the quality is similar to what you would get in Japan. The variety of skewers is also great compared to other places in the area. If you enjoy authentic Japanese food, I'd highly recommend this place. They also serve sushi and ramen; have not tried those yet.

A gem of a Japanese Izakaya restaurant that I totally did not expect to find in Chicago. Most of the menu portions were small but perfect for sharing across a large party: ginkgo nuts, first time trying them in Chicago; gyoza, just the right amount of thin, crispy outer layer and very juicy fillings; chicken liver, very savory and a bit zesty (one couldn't tell if it's a dessert or appetizer); tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled egg), freshly made with perfectly even texture. And there is the fish. Our Omakase and the Mackerel Sashimi prepared by the chef were as good as they come - neutral to taste complemented by the natural butteriness of each piece of fish. Izakaya Sankyu is exactly the type of quality, comfort -- and mostly importantly -- unpretentious Japanese food that I felt is especially lacking in cities across US. Izakaya Sankyu is a rare gem!

Izakaya style (Japanese Tavern, Tapas). The most enjoyable restaurant experience for me but sometimes intimidating. You need at least hour and a half here. Restaurant offers a massive amount of food and drinks, ton of sakes, beers and Japanese single malt whiskeys from low to hi-end. Food from $5 to $40 per plate such as cook, raw, sushi, noodles, hotpot or bowl. Restaurant offers two different type of sitting from Japanese tatami room to western style. What you need to do here first is the order a bottle of beer or sake and spend some time with the menu. Order two to three dishes at the time and enjoy.
